Family Hand Plants
Oct 22, 2022This weekend I took a whole lot of paint and paper to our special Mother's Group gathering.
All the babies have turned 1! We wanted to celebrate the tiny tots by creating some Mummy + Me art with this HAND PLANT art.
It's a fun family art activity to do with any aged kid! Even getting Dad or Granny involved for collection of fun cactus looking hand prints would be fun.
What to do:
Step 1. Orient your paper either portrait, this will fit one large hand plant, or landscape, for a several smaller hand plants. Paint your background using two colours, one for the table, and some stripes or patterns for the wall.
Step 2. Mummy can go first creating a painted hand print. If you are creating this with older kids then its the perfect time to demonstrate how to clean your hand with baby wipes or in the sink! Lets avoid hand prints on the cream couch shall we!
Then it's the kids' turn! Cover their little hand with green paint and guide it toward the page. Make a few prints if you are creating one large plant - as if they are the stems of flowers or a cactus. Single prints for a collection of smaller plants across the landscape page is great too. Abstract prints are ok if you can't get a clear hand print!
3. Cut a vase or a few out of coloured paper and paste it on top.
4. For a few finishing touches cut out pinky-red blooms to paste on your plant.
