No Mess Baby Painting for Mothers Day
Oct 22, 2022I might be bias as an Art teacher and a new Mum, but the sentimental bliss that comes from seeing your baby's first artwork is just so dreamy!
This mess-free finger painting activity solved my dilemma of having to wait for baby to be able to hold the paintbrush. It also played into baby's love of whacking, squeezing and putting all things in her mouth! AND ... did I mention NO MESS!
With Mothers Day just around the corner this is a perfect little memento to create together. The results are easy-peasy wonderful and definitely worth a spot on our baby art wall at home.
What you need
-
Canvas
-
Poster Paint or Acrylic Paint
-
Zip Lock bag
-
Black Paper
-
Coloured Paper
What to do
Select a colour scheme! This bit is the trickiest part. Harmonious colours or warm or cool colour schemes work well. I choose; blue, purple, pink and silver (this was glitter glue). A touch of white will give a pastel tint.
Squeeze a generous amount of each colour onto the canvas then place it inside the zip lock bag. Zip it shut! If your worried the bag might un-zip, place a piece of masking tape over the opening.
Let baby play! Squishing, whacking, squeeze, swooshing the paint beneathe the plastic is where the fun happens.
Once baby has finished, remove the canvas and leave to dry over night.
To complete the Mummy + Baby masterpiece, cut out L-O-V-E from two different colours of paper. Using black is perfect to create a shadow effet of the type.
Glue these on top of the canvas.
This is a really beautiful idea of Mothers Day or a gift for family.
