Rainbow Fish & Heart Art projects for Mother’s Day
Oct 22, 2022Mother's Day is nearly here. Have you got something special planned for Mum? Art is a beautiful way to celebrate or honour a special someone in your life, and doesn’t cost a thing. I'll be sending my Mum some finger painting art from my 3 year old this year! But if you have a bigger kid then creating a large A3 artwork, placing it in a frame or even printing it onto gift cards would be magic!
LIVE LESSON REPLAY: RAINBOW FISH & JAR OF HEARTS
If you're looking for a masterpiece art project that will impress Nana, Aunty or Mum then take a look below at some lesson recordings we did last year at my school holiday Art Camp. The kids LOVED this Rainbow Fish paint along lesson with sparkly scales, and I think ‘Mum’ would love receiving this one too. It’s a good idea to have the gorgeous book ‘Rainbow Fish’ by Marcus Pfister handy for some fishy inspiration. Little Artists will draw along with me to create a large Rainbow Fish surrounded by a ocean bed of sand, rocks, coral and seaweed - there are lots of design options to make their artwork their own! We added oil pastel details and highlights, followed by watercolour paints. To top off our artwork; have some tin foil or glitter near by to add some sparkly scales.
The Little Artists were so proud of their artworks. Click the live replay below to painting along with us and create an art work for Mum this Mother’s Day.

Does your Mum love sweets? This lesson replay would also be another fun option to create a masterpiece for Mother’s Day. In our lesson we filled a jar with all sorts of colourful sweets. The same drawing process would be perfect for Mother’s Day if you switched the traditional lollies to ‘candy hearts’ and draw a little ‘love message’ on the Lolly Jar. Set your Little Artists up with the supplies and click play on the lesson below. This lesson involved drawing, colouring and cutting/pasting some paper lollies on top. It’s perfect for kids as young as 5 years old.
