Six Super Stunning Fathers Day Art Projects for Primary Aged Kids
Oct 22, 2022It’s time to make something super special and creative for the Dad in your life. Let’s get Arty for Father’s Day!!! A quick google search will have you wading through a plethora of Father’s Day Craft ideas, some are cute, some a bit too kitsch and a lot of them fail. I’ve sifted through the endless possibilities and popped a collection of classy art projects that are perfect for primary aged kids. I hope these inspire you to get arty and gift something special on Father’s Day (plus build some art skills in the process).
1.Make Your own Daddy Dinosaur Artwork in a LIVE Art Class
There’s nothing like a hand-made painting to share with someone you love! I’ll be hosting a LIVE Father’s Day Art Class on zoom this year. In our lesson Little Artists will draw along with be to create a Dinosaur outline, then use oil pastels & watercolour paints to add bold colours. I always find kids create better when they’re directed and encouraged in real-time, so hop on over and join our class! Are you in the Online Art Club? Then this Live art class is included in your membership.
2. Super Cool Dad Scooter Live Art Class Replay
When you can’t join a live art class the next best thing is the replay! Here is a crowd-favourite Father’s Day art lesson from last year. Set your Little Artist up with A3 Art Paper, coloured markers and crayons and let them draw-along with me to create this ‘cool’ artwork. You’ll have a full hour to yourself while your kids follow me to draw a easy ice cream on scooter (how fun!) and top it off with some fancy patterns and colours. This is a great draw-along lesson for kids as young a 5. Find the replay below!
3. Pop Art Dad Portraits by RedTedArt
Want to create a Dad portrait? And also add a Pop Art flair? This step by step guide helps kids get started on creating a portrait with a nifty technique that won’t leave them frustrated. I love this project for kids!
Want a simple arty invitation with little instruction … these activities work so well! Over at Merri Cherry you can find this cool project to make for the super Dad. Just cut out a trophy and pull out all the crafty bits from your arty supply cupboard to decorate.
5. Instant Zentangle Father’s Day Card Printable
Got some coloured paper and markers? I’m a big fan of hand made cards and this gorgeous Father’s Day printable will have you off to a good start. Down load and print the template for your Little Artist to fill with zentangle inspired patterns, shapes and lines. This project is one I’ve done with a class of Year 4’s, they were proud as punch when they gifted it to their Dad! Try it here.
This is perfect little arty gift with a keepsake photo. There’s something special about kids using photos of family in their artworks - it becomes a treasure. This project includes a family photo plus some paints and 3D creation. Find it over at the Art Camp La blog.
